Exploring Board Roles

Overview

Board service is a career opportunity many executives explore. Is it right for you? Please join us in a joint meeting with the CWRU Weatherhead School of Business Executive MBA Program and Cleveland Chapter of the Private Directors Association to find out.

A panel of professionals will share insights in three relevant areas:

  1. What boards look for in new board members. How important is specific industry or functional exposure? What types of executive leadership experience are valued? What attracts boards to certain individuals?
  2. How to land a board role. What’s different about a board resume? What networking skills are helpful in finding a board role? What questions are asked in board interviews?
  3. Success in a board role. What does “nose in, fingers out” mean and how does it apply to board service? What will be expected in terms of time commitment and contributing to strategic decisions? What are the risks and rewards?

There will be time for Q & A and an opportunity to network before and after the panel presentation.
