David Novick Managing Director/Family Private Family Enterprises PwC

David Novick has an over 30-year record of success working with families, board directors, and advisory boards as well as leading single and multi-family offices. He has extensive experience assisting families and family offices with governance initiatives; succession, transition, and continuity planning (both for families and the offices that serve them); family office structuring; review and selection of outside vendors; and, perhaps most importantly, fostering effective communication within complex family units and among multiple generations. Prior to joining PwC in 2021, David served as President of Johnson Keland Management, Inc. (JKM) providing corporate and family governance, financial, and advisory services to individual members of the Samuel C. Johnson and Karen Johnson Boyd families (majority owners of S.C. Johnson & Son, Inc.). During his decade-long tenure he worked with members of G4-G7 and led the development and implementation of transition and succession planning governance initiatives both for the family and family office.
Before joining JKM David was Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel for William Harris Investors, a 55-person multi-family office. Between 1998 and 2004 he served as Sr. V.P. of Security Capital Group, a leading publicly- traded international real estate operating and investment management company. David is an attorney by background beginning his career as a Partner in the Financial Services practice of Katten Muchin Rosenman in Chicago.

Jennifer M. Pendergast, Ph.D. Family Enterprise Consultant and Adjunct Professor Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University

Jennifer is a family enterprise consultant and adjunct professor at Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, where she serves as an academic director and instructor for the Family Enterprise Suite of executive education programs. In her consulting practice, she works with family enterprise and family office owners and leaders. She is a board member and trustee for multiple family enterprises. Previously she served as the inaugural John L. Ward Clinical Professor of Family Enterprise and Faculty Director, Center for Family Enterprises (KCFE) at Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University. In that capacity, Jennifer guided the market leading executive education and MBA programs and the research agenda for KCFE (www.kcfe.net). Before that she served as the U.S. leader of the Egon Zehnder’s Family Business Advisory. She began her career in family business consulting at Family Business Consulting Group. Early in her career she was an associate in the McKinsey & Company Atlanta office. With a PhD in strategy, Jennifer has also taught on the faculty of Georgia Tech and Wharton Business School.
Jennifer’s teaching, consulting and writing concentrate on strategic planning and business growth, developing and managing family councils and ownership groups, structuring and improving the effectiveness of boards of directors, planning for ownership and leadership succession and creating and managing family offices. Jennifer received her Ph.D. in Management from Wharton Business School and holds a B.S. in Finance from University of Virginia’s McIntire School of Commerce and has authored numerous books and articles, two of her titles are: “Family Business Succession: Your Roadmap to Continuity” co-authored with Kelly LeCouvie and “Building a Successful Family Board,” which she wrote with John Ward and Stephanie Brun de Pontet.

Christine K. Galloway President & CEO, Retired Okabena Company
|
Christine Galloway is the retired President & CEO of a large, established and highly professional family office, Okabena Company, serving the Dayton family, founding family of Target Corporation. Her strategic leadership led to the development and execution of the company’s long-range strategic plan resulting in the professionalization of operations; the infusion of risk professionalization of operations; the infusion of risk management, transparency and accountability into every aspect of the investment management process; and the creation of a positive corporate culture resulting in an exceptional level of client and employee satisfaction.
Over her 21-year tenure, Chris worked closely with the Dayton family to establish a “best in class” governance structure and process including the integration of independent directors with family leadership. Her management responsibilities included oversight of the company’s business operations that deliver fully integrated accounting, financial reporting, tax planning and compliance, insurance and estate planning services to more than 90 clients. Additionally, Chris was responsible for overseeing the business operations and performance of a sophisticated investment program, which is registered with the SEC as a Registered Investment Adviser. In 2008, Okabena chartered, structured and commenced operation of private family trust company, Boulder Bridge, in South Dakota, providing trustee and executor services to over 150 family trusts; she served as a director until her retirement in 2014.
Chris currently serves as an advisor/director on various family office, private trust company and non-profit boards. She continues to be active in the family office
industry as a member of the Founders Circle at The Northern Trust, and a member of the Forum Board of the Southeastern Family Office Forum, a well-regarded family enterprise conference. In addition, Chris continues her commitment to mentoring and advising leaders in the industry through her involvement with the Wisdom Circle and speaking engagements. Chris received her undergraduate degree from Coe College, where she serves on the Board of Trustees, and an MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University.

Peter Moustakerski CEO Family Office Exchange (FOX)

Peter Moustakerski has spent more than 25 years as a C-level strategist and executive across a variety of industries, including wealth management, capital markets, and technology. He is a former family office executive and FOX member, management consultant, and entrepreneur. He has served as a strategy, innovation, and growth leader for a number of private and public companies and founded two start-ups in New York City and China.
Prior to joining FOX, Peter served as Chief Operating Officer of the family office of the founder of Bridgewater Associates, where he worked closely with the principal family members to envision and oversee the redesign of the family office strategy and day-to-day operations to better serve the evolving needs of the family. Before that, Peter was a management consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton, advising many of the world’s top C-suite leaders, and a strategy executive at UBS, leading all growth and transformation initiatives for the bank’s wealth management organization.
Most recently, Peter was Chief Strategy Officer of News America Marketing, a former News Corp. subsidiary, where he built and led the Corporate Strategy and M&A function and led the company’s successful carve-out and sale to a private equity sponsor. In addition, for more than 20 years, Peter has been a contributing writer and researcher with The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), and has led many qualitative and quantitative research projects, and written a number of influential white papers for the EIU, NBER, and other research institutions and media publications.
Peter holds an MBA from Columbia Business School and a BS in Computer Science and Engineering from Zhejiang University in China, and is proficient in Mandarin, Russian, and Bulgarian.
