Powering Member Engagement and Volunteer Impact: How Kimberly Aldworth Keeps PDA Members Connected
Kimberly Aldworth, PDA’s Director of Membership, joined the organization in 2021, bringing nearly a decade of experience in client management and business development in the luxury retail industry. Based in Fort Lauderdale, FL, Aldworth now leads PDA’s national membership department, developing and implementing strategies to grow and strengthen the association’s membership.
Her people-first, data-driven leadership philosophy shapes how she approaches membership growth. “It’s important to stay connected to what our members value most, while also tracking the trends that help us grow stronger as an organization,” she explains.
Aldworth serves as the staff liaison for both the Board Directors Opportunity Committee (BDOC) and the Membership Experience Committee (MXC), working closely with volunteers to advance initiatives that enhance member value and engagement. As the liaison, she supports the implementation of key projects, such as the BDOC’s Board Posting Service and Board Journey Resource Center development, as well as the MXC’s work on refining and expanding member benefits.
In this role, Aldworth sees firsthand how member volunteers drive PDA’s success. “Our volunteers bring the member perspective to the forefront—helping us understand what members want and need, which ensures our work remains meaningful and impactful,” she notes. “We couldn’t do all of this or operate as effectively without the dedication and support of our volunteer leaders.”
Reflecting on her time at PDA, Aldworth is especially proud of launching CommUnity, PDA’s centralized digital platform for connecting members. “It’s created a space where all members, including those not connected to a local chapter, can engage, share resources, and feel more connected to the organization.” She also highlights the creation of more engagement opportunities within the platform like the Special Interest Group program as key accomplishments. “It has helped strengthen collaboration across committees, task forces, and councils, making the organization feel more aligned and accessible.”
What makes working at PDA rewarding, she says, is being part of a supportive, tight-knit team and collaborating with passionate members and volunteers on strategic, member-focused initiatives. “The work is constantly evolving, so there’s always something new to learn and opportunities to grow.”
As an active member of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), Aldworth’s commitment to member experience extends beyond her role at PDA. “It’s a great community that helps me stay connected, learn best practices, and grow in my role. I find their resources and events incredibly valuable.”
Outside of work, Aldworth enjoys staying active and spending time outdoors. “I love exploring new places, paddle boarding, gardening, and exercising.”
Looking ahead, she’s excited to reconnect with members and the PDA national team in person at PRISM. “Last year’s event was such a success and truly highlighted the value of face-to-face connections. I really enjoyed meeting so many familiar faces as well as new ones.”
